Continued fixes to the Export button when it stopped responding.
v1.0.24 — DIY PDF Export Improvements
Major cleanup of the DIY construction PDF:
Added the Page 1 note:
“Note: Breaker boards are regular decking boards.”Changed wording to:
Standard QuickFix Clip
and
Locking QuickFix ClipChanged Standard QuickFix clips on Page 2 to display horizontally.
Changed breaker-board framing on the subframe plan to appear as a proper ladder, rather than a thick solid line.

Prevented joists from showing through breaker-board ladders.
Removed deck boards from the dedicated subframe page.
v1.0.25 — Step 11 Cost UI / Master Baseline
Reduced the Step 11 Total Cost box, text and amount by approximately 25%.
Retained all of the v1.0.24 PDF fixes.
Established:
Ekodeck_Deck_Planner_v1.0.25_Step11_Total_Cost_25pct_Smaller
as the master baseline at that point.
25 August — 3D Deck Preview Development
v1.0.28 onward — True-height 3D
A proper 3D representation of the completed deck was introduced.
Added a 3D deck render to the final DIY step.
Changed the original bird's-eye view to a more useful front elevated perspective.
Deck height became proportional to the height entered by the customer.
Example: a 200 mm-high deck visually appears roughly 200 mm high relative to the decking.
3D render automatically scales to different deck sizes.
Fascia / seen-edge behaviour
3D fascia changed from appearing around all four sides to appearing only on edges selected as seen/exposed edges.
Fascia boards displayed horizontally.
Non-fascia/open sides display as a dark deck void rather than incorrectly showing fascia.
Improved side fascia appearance.
v1.0.32
Cleaned up unwanted text/shadow artefacts in the 3D renderer.
v1.0.33
Added/improved 90° 3D rotation.
Improved automatic fitting/scaling of the 3D model.
v1.0.34 — Export Fix
This became the working base immediately before the current Advanced/God Mode development.
Retained the existing 3D system.
Fixed the PDF/export issue that had stopped the export operation from firing correctly.
Preserved the hidden Advanced Planner access.
27 August — Advanced Planner Improvements
v1.0.35 — Advanced Deck Height Gate
Advanced Planner workflow was redesigned.
Deck Height moved directly underneath Rotate Shape.
Deck Height made a required field.
When Advanced Planner first opens, only the essential sizing controls remain visible.
Remaining Advanced controls stay locked/hidden until a valid Deck Height is entered.
Removed older logic that automatically forced Deck Height to 0.
Removed older behaviour that placed Deck Height inside the Picture Frame controls.
New Deck from Advanced now returns to the Advanced deck-shape selection screen instead of the public DIY/Advanced choice screen.
Advanced Planner remained hidden from normal customers.
v1.0.36 — Height Gate UI Fix
Removed the stray “mm” appearing to the right of the Deck Height field.
QuickFix Type and QuickFix board gap now remain hidden until Deck Height is entered.
v1.0.37 — QuickFix Default
Changed default QuickFix board gap from 3 mm to 6 mm.
Changed the underlying calculation/default value, not merely the selected button appearance.
Advanced 3D Preview
v1.0.38
Added Advanced-mode 3D functionality.
New 3D Preview button added between Save and Export PDF.
Preview opens over the deck drawing.
Uses the current:
deck geometry,
board direction,
breaker boards,
picture frame,
deck height,
seen-edge fascia selections.
Added Rotate 90°.
Four different viewpoints available.
Added Close.
Escape can also close the preview.
Advanced PDF 3D Export
Added optional 3D view checkbox to Advanced PDF Export.
When selected, four 3D angles are appended as the last four PDF pages.
God Mode
v1.0.39 — God Mode Shell
Introduced the third planner experience:
DIY | Advanced | God Mode
God Mode:
Hidden from the public experience-selection screen.
Initially launched through a secret key combination.
Built as its own session type rather than simply aliasing Advanced Mode.
Inherits the complete Advanced Planner functionality.
Added three God Mode header tabs:
Deck Layout
Cut Outs
Stairs/Steps
God Mode launches into Deck Layout by default.
Deck Layout initially uses the existing Advanced left panel.
New Deck keeps the user inside the God Mode workflow.
v1.0.40 — God Mode Shortcut + Cut Outs
God Mode shortcut changed to:
CTRL + ALT + SPACE — held for 3 seconds
Added the first Cut Outs system.
Supported cut-out shapes initially included:
Square
Rectangle
Circle / elongated circle
Kidney
Cut-outs could:
Be dimensioned.
Appear inside the deck.
Be left-click dragged.
Be right-click dragged to rotate.
Display clearance dimensions between the opening and surrounding deck edges.
Have an optional Picture Frame.
Have optional Fascia.
Have fascia height entered.
Be finished/locked.
Support multiple cut-outs using New Cut out.
Remove decking material from the overall quantity calculation.
Attempt to reuse suitable deck offcuts.
Add framing requirements beneath the opening.
Cut Out Refinements
v1.0.41
Major cut-out fixes.
Rebuilt cut-out picture-frame appearance to behave like the deck's normal picture frame.
Picture frame moved to the outside of the cut-out opening, rather than reducing the opening.
Added mitred corner treatment.
Added cut-out picture-frame support framing.
Added cut-outs to 3D Preview.
Added cut-out geometry to the four exported 3D PDF views.
Added Edit beside Remove for completed cut-outs.

position,
rotation,
picture frame,
fascia,
other options.
Fixed Decking Materials panel flickering/repeated recalculation.
v1.0.42 — Cut-out Workflow & Ladder Fix
Restored reliable left-click dragging.
Restored right-drag rotation.
Finish Shape now collapses the cut-out editor.
Finished shapes remain listed at the top with:
Edit
Remove
New Cut out opens a fresh editor.
Cut-out subframe logic was substantially changed:
Picture-frame supports changed to proper ladder framing.
Ladder appearance now matches existing Deck Planner picture-frame/breaker-board ladders.
Straight rails and blocking introduced.
Blocking aligned correctly instead of appearing angled.
Joists hidden/masked where the ladder occupies the same area.
Avoided unnecessary ladders.
Example: where existing joists can support the top and bottom of a rectangular cut-out, only left and right ladders are generated.
Staircase Module
v1.0.43 — Stairs / Steps
God Mode Stairs/Steps became functional.
Supported:
Straight square/rectangle staircase.
L-shaped wraparound staircase.
Straight staircase:
Initially appears centred on the bottom outside perimeter.
Can be dragged along the deck perimeter.
L staircase:
Initially attaches to a deck corner.
Can be dragged from corner to corner.
Snaps to eligible corners.
Added Flip long / short side.
Stair Compliance Logic
Automatic staircase calculation introduced using:
Minimum going: 240 mm
Maximum going: 355 mm
Riser height: 115–190 mm
Comfort relationship:
2R + G = 550–700 mm
Planner calculates suitable:
number of risers,
actual riser height,
going,
total staircase projection.
Stair 3D
Staircases became actual stepped 3D geometry rather than simple symbols.
Individual rises/goings represented.
Stair geometry tied to selected total staircase height.
L staircases wrap around corners in 3D.
Staircases also appear in the optional four-view PDF 3D export.
Staircase Material / Geometry Improvements
v1.0.44
Renamed:
Stairs/Steps → Staircase
L staircase rebuilt as a single joined staircase rather than two visually separate stair runs.
Added joined corner.
Added herringbone-style transition through the L corner.
Added Picture frame toggle.
Staircase Board Rules
With staircase Picture Frame ON:
Stair picture-frame pieces are Edge Boards for ranges where Edge Boards exist.
Other going boards are normal decking.
Riser boards are normal decking.
With Picture Frame OFF:
Going boards are normal decking.
Riser boards become Edge Boards where the range supports them.
Classic and Essentials use the appropriate normal board where a dedicated Edge Board isn't applicable.
Offcut optimisation
Staircase pieces added into the deck's board-cutting/packing logic.
Usable deck offcuts are attempted before allocating additional 5400 mm boards.
Staircase workflow
Finish staircase collapses the editor.
Completed staircase displayed as a summary card.
Added:
Edit
Delete
Added Add another staircase.
Multiple staircases supported.
v1.0.45 — Labels / 3D / PDF Cleanup
Staircase 3D
Removed confusing dark vertical side/shadow faces around joined L-stair corners.
Reduced visual clutter while keeping tread/riser definition.
Cut-out labels
Added a label/name field.
Examples:
Pool
Tree
Spa
Post
Labels:
remain attached to the cut-out,
appear in its summary,
survive Edit,
save with the project,
appear on the plan drawing.
PDF improvements
Cut-outs added to Deck Layout PDF.
Cut-out picture frames and labels included.
Staircases added to Deck Layout PDF.
L-stair herringbone geometry retained.
Removed editing handles and interaction graphics from exports.
Simplified overly busy staircase linework.
Improved drawing fit.
Fixed the far-right side of PDF drawings being clipped.
v1.0.46 — Staircase Dimensions / Internal Corners
Added Hide deck dimensions toggle inside the Staircase workflow.
This allows stairs to be positioned without the existing deck dimensions obscuring the workspace.
Stair-aware dimensions
Deck dimensions move farther away from staircase geometry.
Added staircase dimensions to the plan.
Includes staircase width/leg dimensions and projection.
Intended to keep both deck and staircase dimensions readable together.
Internal corners
Added support for L-shaped staircases around internal/re-entrant deck corners.
Existing external-corner behaviour retained.
Cut Outs
Removed Kidney from the available Cut Out shapes.
Older saved plans containing kidney geometry can still be interpreted, but new kidney openings cannot be created.
Staircase quantities verified
Staircase boards are included in the overall decking-material calculation.
Stair pieces are included in the cutting/packing process.
Deck offcuts are consumed first where suitable.
Additional stock lengths are then allocated where necessary.
Edge Board requirements are separated according to the staircase rules.
QuickFix calculation was also confirmed to include staircase board lineal metres before rounding to 100 lm QuickFix kits.
v1.0.47 — New Deck Reset + Cut-out Locking Clips
New Deck reset
Fixed God Mode objects surviving between decks.
New Deck now clears:
cut-outs,
staircases,
current cut-out editor state,
current staircase editor state,
placement/selection information,
associated overlays/material geometry.
Saved-plan loading remains separate and can still restore these objects intentionally.
Locking clips around cut-outs
Fixed QuickFix locking clips when a cut-out interrupts a board run.
Previously, the locking clip could remain based on the centre of the original full board run.
Now:
each remaining decking segment created by a cut-out is treated separately;
locking clip is positioned approximately at the centre of that individual segment;
position is snapped to an available joist;
picture-framed openings use the outside of the cut-out picture frame as the termination point;
works with horizontal and vertical board direction;
works across breaker-board bays.
v1.0.48 — God Mode QuickFix / Subframe PDF Export
A PDF export issue was identified where:
Page 1 showed the cut-out and staircase correctly,
but Page 2 QuickFix omitted them,
and Page 3 Subframe also omitted them.
The PDF you supplied showed Page 2 exporting only the underlying deck/clip layout, and Page 3 exporting only the original joists and breaker-board ladder.
Fixes:
Page 2 — QuickFix Installation Plan
Carry God Mode cut-outs into the exported QuickFix drawing.
Carry staircases into the exported QuickFix drawing.
Mask QuickFix clips where a cut-out removes decking.
Preserve cut-out picture-frame geometry.
Expand export drawing bounds for staircase geometry outside the original deck perimeter.
Page 3 — Subframe Plan
Carry cut-out framing into the export.
Include cut-out picture-frame ladders.
Include staircase support/framing representation.
Expand drawing bounds for external staircase geometry.
v1.0.49 — Current Build
PDF structure cleanup
Removed the redundant standalone Material Summary page.
That page repeated board and QuickFix quantities already provided elsewhere in the document. Your earlier PDF showed that duplicate material page separately.
The Advanced/God Mode export now follows:
Page 1 — Deck Layout
Page 2 — QuickFix Installation Plan
Page 3 — Joists / Blocking / Subframe Plan
Page 4 — Product & Price SummaryIf 3D View is selected:
Pages 5–8 — 3D Views 1–4
Biggest changes since 13 August
In shorter form, the planner has moved from primarily being a deck/material calculator into three separate experiences:
DIY
→ guided customer workflow, construction PDF and 3D output.Advanced
→ unrestricted deck editing, required deck height, hidden controls until height is entered, 6 mm default QuickFix, 3D preview and configurable PDF export.God Mode
→ internal Ekodeck planning environment containing everything in Advanced plus:
Cut Outs, labelled openings, opening picture frames/fascia/framing, Staircases, material optimisation, internal/external corner staircases, stair compliance calculations, stair/cut-out 3D rendering, and construction-plan export integration. The current working version is v1.0.49 – God Mode PDF Plan Fixes.
